About Kunda

My full names are Kunda Tumelo. I was born on the 29th May, 1966, around 01.30am. Our parents had 9 children – 6 ladies and 3 men. I took up the middle position meaning that I have four above me. I have 3 elder sisters and 1 big brother. I have four siblings – 2 young sisters and 2 young brothers. By the grace of God, my parents put me in school when I turned 5, in 1971. I did my primary school from 1971 to 1978 and after writing my grade 7 exams, I made into grade eight and went to Mwinilunga Secondary school, where I did my secondary education from grade 8 to 12. In my child-hood, I remember growing up with a very strong desire to serve God but I never knew how best I could do that. I did my primary school right here in Ndola and at that time my parents were here in Ndola, where they worked as military officers at Zambia National Service – this used to be a place where school leavers would go and do military training. Mwinilunga is a town found in the North-Western part of Zambia. After finishing my grade twelve, by the grace of God, my parents sent me to England, in Marnchester and this is where I did a course on secretarial duties and office management, for 1 year and 6 months – from Dec 1983 to May of 1985.

When I came back to Zambia, I did secular employment abit and later
met Timothy, my late husband who helped me get positioned where serving God was concerned. He helped me get into Bible school and I was in Bible school for two years from 1988 to 1990. We served God, on a full time basis and that time we were with Ambassadors For Christ. Timothy was a travelling Evangelist and travelled alot both in Africa and outside Africa. One time, in the early 1990s, Timothy visited the United States of America and met Kevin and Leasa – Mr and Mrs Jones. The Jones are such a very kind and hospitable couple and really took very good care of Timothy. They had a very wonderful time together – Timothy testified when he came back. There was a very special and divine connection between the Jones and us immediately after Timothy met with the Jones. The Jones pledged financial support to Timothy and his family since then and glory and honour be to God that even up to now, the Jones have been faithful to their pledge and may the Lord continue to bless them so richly.

1n 1995, when Timothy went to glory to be with the Lord, God spoke to me saying that I needed to leave Ambassadors For Christ and do a new work He desired me to do but it was not very clear to me what type of work it was. I took a lot of time praying and seeking God for direction. One day, 1n 1999, as I was a praying, 2 very small boys came and knocked on our door. I stopped praying, went to the door to see who had come and to my shock, I saw these two little boys and they were really too small to move on their own. I asked them where they had come from and they told me they had come from Mapalo Compound and were in search of employment. I took them in, prepared them food to eat and after they ate then they explained to me they sad story. Those two small boys were orphans. Both their papa and mama were dead and they were leaving on their own. I wept after listening to their story and it was after that, that I heard God’s voice within me saying ‘Kunda, I want you to take care of orphans and widows’. I told God that I did not have the kind of money that would help me take care of the widows and orphans and God said ’sacrifice the little you have’.

Like I mentioned earlier on, the Jones kept supporting us financially and their financial support really helped me put my gals in school, feeding and accomodation and that was the money God said I should devide and start up a ministry that would help the orphans and widows. One thing that God taught us as we served Him as a couple was GIVING SACRIFICIALLY. I remember telling God that I was ready to share with the needy the little that we had. The number grew from 2 orphans to 100. I told my three gals that we needed to start feeding orphans and my gals gave me full support. Orphans started coming to our house to feed three time a week and later God spoke to me saying ‘ apart from feeding, the orphans needed education as well. Someone has said ‘give someone fish to eat, you help but very little but teach someone how to fish, you will have fed that one a whole of his or her life’. I said to God that I did not have a school for such operations and God
said ‘you have where you live, start the school in your rented house and for sure we started Wiphan school from a house, where we once lived, in Norhtrise. When the widows heard about the food and educational help we were giving to orphans, they too came and showed interest to be helped with skills that could help eleviate poverty because 90 percent of the widows we have in shanty compounds here, never went to school and that has contributed to the abjact poverty going on amongst widows and orphans. We later formed a board and Wiphan care Ministries operated under the certificate of a church for the past 9 years and we thank God that this year in January, Wiphan USA helped alot in having Wiphan Care Ministries get registered with the Zambia’s Registrar of Societies – Praise, glory and honour be to God, who has widows and orphans at heart.

A year later, in 2000 I shared with Kevin and Leasa about the orphans and the widows we had started helping. I told them we had started a school for orphans and we were also feeding them. They increased their financial support, which we greatly thank God for. 3 years later, in 2003, I shared with Kevin and Leasa the need for us to build a school for easy operations and they sent us funds which helped us buy a plot from the council authority. Later, they sent in some more funds which helped us obtain a plan for the school from an architect. A year later, Kevin and leasa, sent in some more funds for us to put up the foundation of the four-roomed plus an office b and in the month of July of 2006, Kevin visited Wiphan-Zambia for the very first time and it was such a gloriuos monment to have him around. Jones had a full view of what Wiphan is and we greatly thank God that when he returned home, he did an excellent job of advertising Wiphan on our behalf and today Wiphan has even landed into your hands. We greatly thank God for what He has done at Wiphan through all of you – Wiphan-USA. Kunda is a widow and mother of three beautiful gals. Kunda has a passion for the needy and her hearts desire is introduce people to Jesus Christ because she believes that Christ is the answer to the problems that man faces. We preach the word of God to the widows and orphans we minister to at Wiphan – Zambia and also offer them education and skills training which we believe shall help them get established soon of later. a million thanks to Wiphan- USA for your endless love and financial support. Wiphan – Zambia is progressing in all her endeavours because of your love and we are very grateful. I hope this information will help. God richly bless you guys out there and bye for now.
TONNES AND TONNES OF LOVE,
