Shoes for Wiphan

In summer 2008, a medical team comprised of Dr. Lee Jacobs, and nurse, Kerri Geiken, were able to see every single student and widow attending Wiphan! The main health concern for the children is worms. Dr. Jacobs said it is a simple thing to treat and cure BUT that they will most likely continue to contract them unless we break the cycle. HOW DO WE DO THAT!? The answer is amazingly simple- SHOES!!! They are contracted through open wounds on bare feet. The worms are robbing the children of nutrition and are a major contributor to malnutrition.

After exploring and trying out several options, including a croc-style shoe, we have found that a leather shoe with a hard rubber sole is the most effective and long lasting choice.  We are estimating an expense of approximately $5000 a year to outfit each Wiphan student with shoes.  If you would like to help donate toward this effort for the coming school year- you can simply mail a check to Wiphan Care Ministries and mark in the memo that you would like it to go toward “shoes for Wiphan students” OR you may also donate right now on-line by clicking the button below. Each pair of shoes is approximately $14. Just one donation of $14 will break this cycle for a child!
