Operation Silent Night

Did you know that Malaria is the #1 killer of children in Africa? Or that over 1,000,000 people die every year from this preventable and treatable disease? An estimated 90% of Malaria deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa, the majority of which are children under 5 years old. Something as simple as a mosquito net can change those statistics. Malaria mosquitos bite at night and a treated net protects a family for up to 5 years. Furthermore, when just 70% of a community is protected by mosquito nets, the entire community benefits because mosquitos that carry the malaria parasite are killed.

Did you know that over 78% of rural Zambians survive below their national poverty line- in fact, the annual per capita income in Zambia is estimated at $395 per year; that is a little more that just $1 per day! The orphans, widows and families who live in the compounds of Ndola, Zambia struggle daily to meet basic needs such as water, food and a safe place to sleep at night. While many of our students live in a simple mud home; their bed is a cold, hard, (and during the rainy season) wet floor. Poverty and desperation make the compounds an unsafe place, especially when night comes. Wiphan Care hopes to protect our children from disease and harm and to provide a dry place for the night. One $45 kit includes- one mosquito net, a reed mat with foam bed, and a chain and lock set.

Will you join us in giving our children a SAFE and SILENT NIGHT?
