Wiphan pairs economic support with discipleship. Alongside business capital and skills training, women in the program are pointed to God's kindness and the saving grace of Christ, and receive ongoing spiritual encouragement and accountability.

BRENDA
Brenda joined Wiphan's Widows Program in 2015. She takes care of a household of five, including three children and one dependent.
What She Built
After receiving her K1,000 loan, Brenda started a business selling clothes and chitenge material. "Through this business, I am able to support my family and buy some of our basic needs," she shares.
What She's Learning
Brenda has learned farming, raising poultry, knitting, and making paper beads, cards, doormats, headsocks, and bags — alongside financial management. "I have also learned money management in the program, and I know it will really help me," she explains. "This program has helped me not be dependent, but taught me to make money for myself and help my family."

JENIFER
Jenifer joined Wiphan's Widows Program in 2015. She has seven children, and shares her home with a niece in the 6th grade.
What She Built
With her K1,000 loan, Jenifer opened a small grocery store at her home. "Once I got my loan, I started running a small grocery store, and I am making profits selling some sugar and soft drinks," she says. "That keeps me busy at home."
What She's Learning
Jenifer has learned to make doormats and baskets, along with farming and raising poultry. "This is also teaching me money management, and we have learned how to invest money," she notes. She uses her business income to help pay her niece's tuition, and is passing on what she's learned: "I now teach my niece what I am learning about money management. And now, she saves the little that I give her."
