ZAMBIA SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION

7th grade is the last year of primary school in Zambia. All 7th graders take a mandatory exam to determine eligibility for 8th grade. Since 2011, Wiphan has encouraged students who qualify to continue their education by paying the secondary school tuition.

Government schools have much larger classes, no biblical education and very little accountability. To help support the secondary students, Wiphan initiated the INSHILA program.

Inshila, in Bemba, means THE WAY. During the bi-monthly meetings Wiphan staff use the Reach for Life curriculum to disciple, coach and mentor about 300 youth from 22 different high schools.

Students are required to attend Inshila and to submit school attendance records and grade cards to be eligible for continued payment of their tuition. It takes courage for our secondary students to stay focused on completing their education. Our goal is to love and empower these students by developing Christian character to help them stand secure in biblical truth and resist the temptations of the culture.
